MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Members of a West Virginia gym paid tribute to its late owner Saturday with a specialized workout to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his death.
More than 250 people -- either live or virtually -- participated at CrossFit Morgantown’s tribute to Jeff Giosi, WBOY-TV reported.
Giosi, 40, died Jan. 23, 2021, The Morgantown News reported. He had owned the Morgantown gym since 2014 and died from a genetic aortic aneurysm.

After he died, the gym hosted a workout of the day in his honor, according to WBOY. His widow, Sarah Giosi, decided to host a weekend event on the anniversary of her husband’s death.
Each part of the workout represented a significant number in Jeff’s life, according to WBOY. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the workout was split up into heats, making the workout an all-day event.
“In the past year, I’ve gotten to see what community is,” Sarah Giosi told the television station. “And we are so fortunate to be here in the state of West Virginia, in Mon (Monongalia) County. We have this incredible support system and community, and I don’t just mean people that love us -- I mean strangers.”
